Casey Tree Endowment Fund - Their mission is to restore, enhance and protect the tree canopy of the Nation's Capitol (but they do SO much more).  E.g., they train tree stewards, organize tree plants.  Check out their cool Tree Map.

DC Dept of Environment's Watershed Protection Division   -  It may be a mouthful but Gilda Allen's Schoolyard Conservation  program and countless other environmental education programs and projects are having an impact.  She's a true friend to DC's green community.
